Somebody's Baby

There' s a dirty old man
By the side of the road
Holding a tattered sign
Hoping someone will slow

You see he got real sick
So his work let him go
He had worked his whole life
Now had nothing to show

But no one spares a glance
There'll be no second chance
Do they know that he's somebody's baby

There's a lonely, young teen
Wearing black and cold chains
Who puts black liner on
To hide tears and deep pain

She hates the way she looks
Though she'd never complain
She's depressed but won't tell
Filled with sadness and angst

Everyone makes judgments
Whispering harsh comments
Do they know that she's somebody's baby

Do you see that young mom
At the grocery store
Whose kids seem somewhat loud
Knocking things on the floor

Her husband has just died
Who can ask her for more
She hasn't slept in weeks
Her bed is her kid's floor

Yet others sneer and judge
Almost holding a grudge
Do they know that she's somebody's baby

There are times in our lives
That we see another
Be it a homeless man
Troubled teen or mother

Do we judge or make light
Thinking that we are right
Please remember...they're somebody's baby
